Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 3-4-5, 2019 Dock 11 Berlin
“Freakatoni Witchy Weekends Berlin” Katie Duck and Sharon Smith with their Amsterdam Band “Rock Casualty”, “Enchanted Dancers” and Emese Csornai Real time Light Design. Abandon Human part 2.
As early as the 1970’s, Amsterdam has traditionally created a platform where musicians meet with theatre and dance artists to discover how this effects their improvisation music direction and to embrace total theatre as an art form. Even today in Amsterdam, musicians, dancers, actors, singers and poets gather on Sundays to practice towards live performances. Freakatoni Witchy Weekends is an Amsterdam invention for multidisciplinary real time performance.
Sharon Smith and Katie Duck met in Amsterdam in the 1990s in this collective activity. In 2017 and 18, they brought “Abandon Human“part 1 to Dock 11; a live art performance and writing project with declarations, monologues and actions; Two woman performing unhinged frames of female labour, motherhood and madness on a ship wreck.
In May 2019, Katie and Sharon will bring a “Freakatoni Witchy Weekend” to Dock 11; “Abandon Human” part 2. They will continue their performance writing project with songs and story telling adding Amsterdam band “Rock Casualty”; chamber music in a real time punk attitude, fairy dusted by the Amsterdam based “Enchanted Dancers” performing unhinged frames of hope and true love kisses rescued by pirates.
